About Allegacy Federal Credit Union
Founded in 1967 to serve the employees of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, Allegacy Federal Credit Union has spent nearly six decades outgrowing its original charter. The name itself — a combination of "allegiance" and "legacy" — reflects the institution's roots. Today, Allegacy is one of the largest credit unions in North Carolina, with $2.3 billion in assets, 178,000 members, and 19 branches across the Triad and Charlotte areas. Few credit unions of its size have built what Allegacy has on the commercial side: a substantial, sophisticated portfolio spanning commercial lending, commercial deposits, treasury services, and business banking. Finding a digital platform that could serve members on both the consumer and commercial side — equally well — was never going to be a simple search.
The Challenge
The Challenge: Most platforms pick a lane: deposits or loans.
Most digital account opening and loan application platforms are built for one type of member: the consumer. They handle personal checking, savings, maybe auto loans. Commercial is an afterthought — a bolt-on, a future roadmap item, or a gap they quietly acknowledge in demos.
For Allegacy's CIO Zac Streelman, that wasn't good enough. Allegacy's commercial portfolio is a core part of who they are, not a side business. Any new platform had to serve both worlds at the same level.

"Glide is really the only player in the space that can handle the needs of credit union consumers as well as a credit union that has a substantial and very robust commercial portfolio — and deliver on both sides of the house equally well."

Why Glide
The comprehensiveness of the platform was the primary filter, but it wasn't the only one. Integration capability mattered too. Allegacy has a complex ecosystem, and Streelman had seen too many vendors promise seamless integration and then struggle to deliver against the specifics.
Glide had a track record he could point to.
"Glide has proven historically that they have the team that can execute against that type of schedule, that type of ecosystem. I'm incredibly excited for that to come to reality here."
The kickoff itself confirmed what the evaluation had suggested. More than 20 people from the Allegacy team were in the room — asking questions, pushing on details, stress-testing the roadmap. The reaction coming out of day one was close to unanimous.
"Talking to people after the meetings today, it was almost unanimous that everybody was just ready to go — and that's exciting."
What's ahead
For Streelman, the goal is straightforward: help Allegacy serve its members and business customers more effectively than it ever has before, without having to stitch together separate point solutions to do it.
"If you're looking for a platform to take your credit union to the next level — these are the folks to talk to, for sure."
